About Hardwood Flooring

This is a floor that can be made completely unique to you and your style. You can pick the type of floor, the width of the boards, the character of the wood, add different textures, put it into a pattern, if you want to put stain on it, and what sheen you want the finish to be. Make a floor that fits exactly what you want. We can help!

 Wood Character

Within each species of wood, you can pick different characteristics of boards that you put on your floor. Otherwise known as grades. A cleaner grade of wood would have less color variation and knots, while a rustic grade is going to give you the most amount of variation and knot holes. Below is the different grades shown on White Oak.

Patterns

There are so many patterns you can choose from if you are wanting to do something different with your wood floor. We especially see a lot of patterns that are added into the entryway of homes. The two most popular ones to date are herringbone and chevron pattern.

Stain Colors

When picking a stain keep in mind the floor that it will be going on. Each species reacts to stain a little bit differently and will pull colors differently as well. For example, putting a gray stain on red oak will pull pink. If you were to stain maple, the floor will appear blotchy. Make sure to talk to professionals when picking out stain for your floor! We have found that white oak is a great option if you are wanting to have a stained floor. Below are some stain options. Or check out the DuraSeal Stain Gallery.
